Who we are

Jep Seman is co-founder and managing member of the JPS Law Group. His areas of practice include oil and gas, natural resources, real estate and land use planning.  His clients include local and national oil and gas operators, pipeline companies, developers, owners, investors and tenants. Mr. Seman has deep ties in both Colorado business and political circles and an unparalleled understanding and ability to help clients navigate the nexus of law, policy and politics.

Mr. Seman represents clients in complex purchase and sale, real estate finance and development transactions, including office, industrial, hospital and health care, retail and residential developments. He advises clients on title and survey matters, entitlements, land use and development approval, including zoning, tax increment financing, subdivision and development agreements. Mr. Seman frequently represents clients and appears before local planning boards, county commissions and city councils throughout Colorado.

Since 2008, Mr. Seman has served as lead legal counsel for the Colorado Petroleum Association on rulemaking matters before the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, including the Commission’s adoption of revised statewide operating rules, groundwater sampling, hydraulic fracturing disclosure and setbacks.

Mr. Seman is a veteran of the United States Congress where he served as staff counsel to the U.S. Senate Environment and Public Works Committee.

A Colorado native, Jep received his Juris Doctorate from the University of Colorado School of Law in Boulder. He lives in Denver with his wife and three children and spends his free time outdoors working to perfect his skiing, cycling and golf skills.

He’s also the co-founder and principal of Colorado Advocates, a government relations, community engagement and procurement assistance firm.
